The Vilano Fest is an annual festival that celebrates the history, future, and individuality of our community where all people feel welcome. A portion of proceeds from the Vilano Fest will help improve lighting and walkability throughout the community and support the continued education of local culinary students. The event consists of a weekend of activities including a Sea Turtle Soiree (party on the pier); Tour of Homes (showcasing historic and modern structures); a Music Fest (including culinary student competition and arts and crafts vendors with entertainment for all ages).

 

The event is specifically staged within the Town Center on Vilano Beach Main Street, a designated Florida State Main Street community since 2003. Vilano Beach Main Street works in collaboration with local businesses, St. Johns County Visitor and Convention Bureau, The Chamber, Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, VISIT FLORIDA, North Shores Improvement Association, and neighboring homeowner groups. Today the Town Center and surrounding communities retain their nostalgic walkable and bike friendly character.

 

Vilano and the North Beaches are perhaps most known as small, eclectic beach communities within the sight of St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city. For centuries, people have flocked to this coastal playground by horse-drawn trolley, ferry, and more recently Florida’s Coastal Highway, State Road A1A. The 1920s saw the development of the Vilano Beach Town Center plat, construction of August Hecksher’s Vilano Casino, and an abundance of booming development.

Sea Turtle Soiree

The Sea Turtle Soiree is a 1920s themed costume party on the Vilano Beach Pier. Unlike any other event, this Soiree combines the best views of the sunset over St. Augustine with music and gourmet food.

Join us for this private event! Dress up in your finest “Gatsby” attire and swing to the tunes of Ramona’s eight piece band under 200 feet of lighted tent.

Your ticket includes dinner and dancing with the option to purchase a wide variety of fine wines, craft beer and 1920s themed cocktails.

Come celebrate with your neighbors, talk with the home owners on tour, and meet your local community leaders. Guaranteed to be the event of the season!

Tour of Homes

The Home Tour features historic and modern homes throughout the Vilano Beach Community. Along the route you will see what makes the Vilano Beach architecture so unique with Art Deco, Florida Vernacular and new homes including Intracoastal and sea views.

Some important things to note:

Limited access for handicapped guests

Some homes on tour may restrict kids under the age of 12

Ticket sales are limited!

Music Fest

Complementing the tour activities is a Music Fest with the area’s most popular entertainers. A culinary competition known as the Dish n Fish is held with area culinary students creating special dishes for popular vote tasting and judging. This year offers a student and professional competition for sliders. Yum Yum. Food trucks will be parked on Poplar Avenue and seating is available under two large tents.

Arts, crafts, entertainment, kids’ zone and vendors fill the day to complement food and beverage offerings. To celebrate our walkable and bike friendly community access to the festival is from the north side of the Vilano Bridge where the Nature Boardwalk ambles through the saltwater marshes leading to the Town Center at Poplar Avenue.

Nine separate entertainment acts will begin at noon and last until 8 p.m. Favorite musicians will include songwriters and local greats such as Dewey Via, Sam Pacetti, Amy Hendrickson and so many more. If you are a follower of your budding talented kids, Dance USA and the Legacy Irish Dancers are appearing at the noon hour.

Vendor set up and management will be handled by an on-site manager. Vendor products will be reviewed for appropriateness, presentation, insurance and licenses required, and mix. Vendor agreements will have a hold harmless clause. Vendors will be asked to park in a designated vendor parking area. Vendor spaces are approximately 10 x10 each. Vendors will need to provide their own tents and tables. Those vendors not abiding by event rules may not be asked to return.

No electricity is planned. Access to limited electrical outlets may be necessary for some vendors and may be arranged with the event manager. The event is planned to take advantage of daylight until about a half hour after dusk.

All vendors/chef stations need tents. For additional fee, VBMS can arrange rental as needed.
