13th Annual CONROY INSHORE FISHING TOURNAMENT
Mandatory Captain Meeting -- 5 to 7 p.m. Friday

Inshore Fishing Tournament – Saturday

Friday Night at Boating Club, 611 Boating Club Road.  Saturday weigh-in at Mike’s Place, Euclid Avenue, next to Aunt Kate’s. Food served 12 to 5. Fishing is from safe light to 4 pm, followed by awards ceremony.  Register by March 3.  $30, payback 1st-3rd prizes in categories:  red bass, spotted sea trout, flounder, sheepshead and $50 largest whiting.  Proceeds go to St. Augustine Youth Services.

At North Beach Park beach walkover by County Sold Waste Management Department.  Paint, chemicals, oils, aerosols, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, computers , TVs, printers, vcrs and CD players, drives, radios, steos, kitchen appliances, power tools.  No microwave ovens or large appliances.  Auto and light truck tires only, with a limit of 10 per household.  RESIDENTIAL materials only -- no commercial, medical, trash, construction debris or yard waste.  Info: 827-6980.

WOMEN’S SAILBOAT RACE
Spectator sport visible on the Intracoastal Waterway between Camachee Marina / Vilano Bridge and Cap’s, out and back.  Best viewing at Aunt Kate’s or Caps.  Sponsored by St. Augustine Sailing Sisters and the St. Augustine Yacht Club.  The last ladies race had 18 boats and was won by a Deaf and Blind School captain.  This boat, Naked Option, wants to win , with the most girls and the cutest crew shirts.  Info:  Madalin at (904) 610-0107.

VILLAGES OF VILANO NEIGHBORHOOD YARD SALE
Gate at 3655 Coastal Highway.  Guard will direct you to go either right or left to work your way through the community.  Rain date Sunday.  Household furnishings and the usual.  Last year there were 38 homes participating.  Hot dog, chips and a drink at the club house near the gate $1.50.  For those residents of VOV who would like to participate,  Register to help pay for advertising, $5.  By the VOV Social Committee.  Contact:  687-1744.

“NEW URBANISM” IN VILANO BEACH

At the North Shores Community Center.  VilanoBeach Main Street President, Vivian Browning, will host a workshop to discuss nuances of building in Vilano Beach, including regulations and land development codes for both old and new structures along with possible urban development in the Town Center.  Learn about historic and modern homes which will be featured on the Tour of Homes.  Receive resource materials and earn CEU credits.  Attendance limited to 60 people.  Fee $10.

SEA TURTLE SOIREE
On the Pier.  Great food, music.  Cash bar.  Feel free to come in costume as we celebrate the Art Deco period of Vilano Beach.  Only 200 tickets available. $50.

TOUR OF HOMES

From Porpoise Point to Gardner Avenue.  Historic homes and new homes.  Celebrate history by visiting cottages dating back to the early 1900s, art studios, and amazing views of the Intracoastal Waterway.  Transportation will be provided, along with designated central parking near the homes.  We encourage all visitors to enjoy the area by walking or riding your bikes.  Home Tour book provided.  Only 800 tickets available to be sure visitors have time to see the homes and enjoy their visit.  $20.

DISH ‘N FISH

In the Town Center.  Music, Arts & Crafts.  Discounts available to local restaurants. 

This event is a collaborative fundraising partnership with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) and Vilano Beach Main Street to raise awareness of the coastal community and area dining benefits for visitors and residents to occur each spring in Vilano Beach Town Center. The event features a Chef Competition among High School Culinary students. Five teams from around the area will compete under the tutelage of master chefs. There will be a Dish of the Day featuring classics common to Northeast Florida. Ten additional food stations will offer favorite dishes. Some samples may be offered by restauranteurs for a nominal donation. Area wine, beer and spirits distributers will be on site.

The event begins at 12 pm under a two large tents in Vilano Beach Town Center along Poplar Road across from Publix. Entry fee donation of $5 benefits FRLA ProStart Scholarships and Vilano Beach Main Street. (Children under 6 free) Sponsorships and sponsor tables are available – first come first served.

Entertainment and food is continuous from 12 noon til 8 pm. No street closures are planned.

They ride regularly on Saturdays, except third Saturday, starting at Vilano Publix parking lot.  They take a warm up loop around Porpoise Point before heading over the Bridge.
